The Township of Dawson is Planning for the Future!
The Township of Dawson is holding a Special Meeting of Council as part of the review of its Official Plan. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the revisions that are required to the current Official Plan, which was adopted in 1998.
Why Review the Official Plan?
The Planning Act requires the Township to review its Official Plan periodically to ensure that it:

Conforms with applicable provincial plans;
»
Has regard to matters of provincial interest under Section 2 of the Planning Act; and
»
Is consistent with policy statements issued under Section 3(1) of the Planning Act.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for input on issues and matters that members of the public believe should be considered as part of the Official Plan review.
Any person may participate in the public meeting and/or make written or oral representation with respect to the Official Plan review. Any written submission, either in hard copy or electronic format, must be forwarded to the Township for receipt by Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Please include your full name, address and telephone number.
If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Township of Dawson on any changes to the Official Plan resulting from the Official Plan review, you must make a written request to the contact below to be added to the interested parties list.

The Township of Dawson is Planning for the Future!
The Township of Dawson is holding a Public Open House to introduce the proposed Official Plan and the proposed comprehensive Zoning By-law for the Township and to seek feedback from the public. This notice applies to all lands within the entire Township of Dawson and no key map has been provided.
What is an Official Plan?
The Official Plan is a guiding document for decision-making with respect to land use and development outlining the vision, goals, and policies for growth within the Township under Section 16 of the Planning Act. All new development is required to conform with the policies of the Official Plan to be approved.
What is a Zoning By-law?
The purpose of the new Comprehensive Zoning By-law is to regulate how and where development can occur within the entire municipality under Section 34 of the Planning Act. The new Comprehensive Zoning By-law will implement the policies and directions of the new Official Plan.
Have Your Say!
Any person may participate in the Public Open House to view the proposed Official Plan and proposed Zoning By-law documents, ask questions about the process, and provide comments on the proposed direction.
The proposed Official Plan and Zoning By-law documents are available for inspection at the Township of Dawson Office during regular office hours.
